Paladin
The vineyards of the Paladin winery are located in the border area between the Eastern Veneto and Friuli, where wine was already being grown in Roman times. At that time, the wines of this area were shipped in amphorae from the nearby sea ports to Rome, as reported by the historian Pliny.
The company was founded 50 years ago by Valentino Paladin, and today is jointly managed by his three children: Lucia, Carlo and Roberto.
The calcareous clay soils were formed about 20,000 years ago, after the last ice age. At a depth of 50 to 100 centimetres, one runs into limestone, the so-called Caranto, which gives the wines their body, richness and flavour intensity. The region has a rather mild climate. To the north, the Dolomites and the Alps provide protection from the cold; to the south-east, the Adriatic has a moderating influence.

Many different varieties are grown here. The wines selected by Baur au Lac Vins are characterised by their clearly distinguished varietal flavour. Bodegas Amézola de la Mora
The Amézola de la Mora family vineyard originated in the 19th century. Already then it enjoyed a good reputation in large parts of the country. With the appearance of the dreaded phylloxera plague, however, production unfortunately came to an end. In 1986, Iñigo Amézola de la Mora brought the family estate back to life.
San Patrignano
Between Rimini and San Marino, not far from the loud and lively beaches of the Adriatic Sea, lies San Patrignano. This rather unconventional village with between 1600 and 2000 inhabitants was founded in 1978 by Vincenzo Muccioli and like-minded people with the aim of offering young people in need a new future through work and vocational training.
Cantina Colterenzio
The vineyards of the village of Schreckbichl, or Colterenzio in Italian, near Girlan are among the oldest vineyards in Europe. The origin lies in the Roman estate Cornelianum of a Roman named Cornelius. From this, almost 1000 years later, the present name Girlan or Coriano developed.
