Pintail Blended Malt, 10 years 2012
Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, The Whisky Cellar, 700 ml
Producer: | The Whisky Cellar |
Origin: | United Kingdom |
Description
The original Pintail, named after the dabbling duck with its distinctive pointed tail feathers, was first bottled and distributed in 1931 by Perth-based wine and spirits merchant Matthew Gloag and Sons. The label has been resurrected in all its original glory, including the flying duck symbol. The various malts for this whisky, were selected by Keith Bonnington of The Whisky Cellar, an independent "bottler", for richness and balance before being bottled in a single Oloroso sherry cask where they were then matured for 10 years. The resulting aromas of dark orchard fruit, cinnamon and star anise dominate the nose. The palate is enveloped by dark chocolate, mocha, sultanas, malt bread and a hint of eucalyptus. The bottling without cold filtration ensures a full mouthfeel and aroma.
