Description

Located in the southern Highlands, Glenturret Distillery is the oldest distillery still in operation in Scotland. It founded in 1775 and is known for the production of peated whisky, which was mainly used for blends. One or two casks have come onto the market and is traded as Ruadh Maor Single Malt. This bottling comes from a particularly good and rare re-fill ex-sherry butt. Strong, smoky notes of charred embers, grilled meat and ripe yellow fruits rise to the nose. On the palate, these smoky flavours are repeated and completed with sweet, ripe fig and sherry notes and a hint of nutmeg and vanilla. The finish shows the great balancing act between the strong smoky flavours and a seductive sweetness.

Highlands: Clans, Schafe, Whiskys
