Description

The Mackmyra distillery is located in the Swedish town of Gävle and was founded by a group of eight old college friends who pioneered it. This whisky challenges traditional conventions and is typically Swedish with its modern and experimental style, made with great love and care for the environment. For 8 years, the Mackmyra matured in the Virgin American Oak Single Cask in the old Bodas mine, 50 metres underground. Sweet and fruity on the nose with flavours of ripe, juicy peaches and banana sweets on the palate. The finish is long and smooth, marked by the smell of sweet fruit. What started as an idea during the UK lockdown has become a reality. Founder Keith Bonnington thought: what if we could bottle the sweetest whiskies imaginable to celebrate the physical reunion of friends? The kind of whiskies that everyone enjoys. The kind where you pop the cork and never see it again. With rays of sunshine, Highland brooks meandering to distant mountains, rainbows, a hot air balloon and the hope of better times ahead. After all, who doesn't enjoy the sight of a hot air balloon with a good glass of whisky in hand? Slàinte!

Top Recommandation – Best Whisky Shop 2025 Award
